FORT ATKINSON REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING, MONDAY MARCH 3, 2025

 

Mayor Paul Herold called the regular meeting of the Fort Atkinson City Council to order at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Fort Atkinson Community Center.  The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Present: Glass, Schroeder, Leuenberger & P. Schmitt.  K. Schmitt was absent.  Also present were:  Kerry Kleve, Allen Blong, Jay Schwamman, Ron Franzen and Michele Elsbernd.

Motion by Glass, second by Schroeder to approve the consent items (minutes from February 5, 2025, claims, clerk/treasurer reports and the ABD license LG0000421 for Laure Rausch (Lickety Split).  All aye, motion carried.

Al Blong addressed the council regarding the chlorine taste and smell in the city water supply.  Greg Barta replied to the inquiry via speaker phone.

Internet/phone options at the Fort Atkinson Community Center was discussed.  Motion by Leuenberger, seconded by Schroeder to buy out the Mediacom contract and set up the internet without phone service with Acentek.   All aye, carried.

Motion by Glass, seconded by P. Schmitt to set the public hearing on the proposed tax levy for the 25-26 budget for April 2, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. at the Fort Atkinson Community Center.   All aye, carried.

Motion by Glass, seconded by P. Schmitt to approve the second reading of Ordinance # 43 regarding establishing the cemetery in the city code.  Aye:   Glass, Leuenberger, Schroeder & P. Schmitt.  Motion carried.   Motion by Glass, seconded by P. Schmitt to waive the third reading or Ordinance # 43.  Aye:  Glass, Leuenberger, P. Schmitt & Schroeder.  Motion carried.

There were no building permits submitted.

Additional items discussed, the need for the city  to change to a new software package, various options were discussed.  Also discussed were options for the city ICAP insurance coverage for property and liability insurance. Fire department options for their IMWCA physicals and their regulations regarding document retention. The IMWCA representative stressed that there should be no one responding  to a fire or incident that does not have a current physical.   Also discussed was a 28E agreement between the City of Fort Atkinson, the fire department and the townships.

Motion by Glass, seconded by Leuenberger to adjourn.  All aye, carried.  Meeting adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
